Santal Mission: Charhi
Origin and development

In 1973, Fr. Hand Hendricks s.j. was relieved from Catholic Ashram Hazaribag and his mind and heart went into the apostolic mission of Santals. Being well versed in Santali language, he began the Deen Seva Dal for the Santals by adopting their ways of worship and customs, culture and began the catechism classes. He also constructed a mud house like the other sandals and a small school named Masi Mander keeping focus on the Santals.

2015 Parish priest is: Fr. Nicholas Topno s.j.

“For Ignatius being a Companion of Jesus in His Salvific mission gave direction and purpose to life. Companionship with Jesus in Mission is Central to Ignatian Spirituality.”
